Blind styles

The two most popular blind styles these days are horizontal wood and Venetian blinds or vertical blinds.

  • Wood Blinds & Venetian Blinds – These blinds come in natural Wood tones, every shade of white possible, and just about everything in between. Slat size can vary from 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inches wide. Remember, the wider the slat the better you can see out and the easier they are to clean.
  • Vertical Blinds – Vertical blinds are generally used on large windows like door walls or picture windows and one of our favorite ways to control light on these windows. Vertical blinds were very popular in the 80s and 90s. They fell off a bit in the last 20 years, however they have come back with all new benefits, including the addition of a drapery or sheer wrap around the vertical creating a soft, elegant and versatile appearance.

Things to consider when selecting the perfect window covering:

  • What is the primary need for the window treatment? Temperature control, light control, Aesthetics?
  • Will the blinds be installed on the inside or outside of the window trim and is there enough room to do that?
  • What’s the most convenient way to operate the blinds? Cord? Motorized?
  • Are there any small children or pets in the home?
  • How easy are the blinds to clean?
  • Are there warranties on my blinds and shades?

This is great because it allows you the opportunity to control light as it enters your home. Probably the most popular style Blind these days is the 2-inch wood blinds or faux wood blinds. This blind comes in natural wood tones or every shade of white possible. Like many Hunter Douglas window blinds, the slats size can be very from 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inches wide, remember the wider the slat the better you can see out in the easier they are to clean. The other popular form of blinds are vertical blinds. These blinds are often used on large, or even floor-to-ceiling windows–like doorwalls or picture windows. They have incredible capability to control light on these windows. Contemporary vertical blinds offer more features and benefits than their past versions, made with sleek styling and effortless control. The addition of a drapery or sheer wrap around the vertical window blinds creates a soft, elegant and versatile appearance.
